PTNA will celebrate its 50th anniversary at the special concert on Feb. 28th. The number of PTNA member has just reached 16,000 recently, which is the best record in the past half century.
Now, we would like to review the overall membership services once again to show what we can offer and what they can do in our activities.
1) Discount on the application fees of PTNA Piano Competition and STEP
In 2016, 85% of the STEP participants have applied at a discount price. It is applicable to either those who are members or their teachers are members (discount rates are different). Members are also able to receive application guildbooks of both events.
2) Free registration for Piano Teachers Search Service
Piano Teachers Search Service introduces piano studios online and help them call upon new students. About 8,300 members (60% of authorized members, teachers' members, and performers' members) are on the list. Among them, 6,432 members have been introduced students via this service, and 2,350 of them gained more than 5 students. One of the registered teachers says that students introduced via this service have strong motivations to learn piano. One of the users was pleased to find a wonderful teacher by comparing the information of several piano studios, as well as the testimonies by other users.
3) Discount price available on the monthly magazine "Musicanova"
850 members subscribe the monthly magazine "Musicanova" at a 10% discount price. One of them says the magazine is quite useful for daily lessons, as it covers from pedagogical skills, techniques, to introduction of materials for beginners, etc.
4) Discount price available on the Naxos Music Library
1,400 members use the service called the Piano Encyclopedia Plus, which enables them to listen to the Naxos Music Library at a 90% discount!
5) Apply for the PTNA Lesson Observation Program
The PTNA Lesson Observation Program is available exclusively for PTNA members. There are about 40 venues in a single year and about 290 members have participated. One of them, who have participated in it several times for observing different teachers' lessons, told that each teacher has own characteristics in their lesson procedures and musical approaches, and that gave her inspirations.
6) Other useful services
There are other discount services; 20% discount on the piano transportation service by Kyoritsu Line Service (areas: Tokyo, Saitama, Chiba, Kanagawa) / special discount point system by AbleMart Online Music Shop / Discount prices available at Yamaha and Kawai music shops which serve as PTNA branches / Apply for the insurance for piano teachers at a 10% discount, that compensates for being absent from work due to injuries, diseases, hospitalization, or nursing care of parents.
Recently, PTNA sent out a questionnaire to the members of their 2nd year, and 150 have responded (Among them, 19% are family members, and 2% are GrandMuse members)
The biggest reason of becoming a PTNA member is a discount on the PTNA competition and STEP fees. Other major reasons are as follows; participation opportunities for seminars and lesson observation programs / incentives for teaching and learning / registration for piano teachers search service / information on the quarterly journal "Our Music".
Here are several testimonies.
