"Time for Teamwork!" PTNA News Letter 2015 is Available Online

PTNA published PTNA News Letter 2015 edition in the end of last year. In this edition, the feature article was the "Time for Teamwork! Duo with Dialogue Makes Double Effect". There were several significant transformations in duo division last year, such as the establishment of "pre-elementary level" and "piano concerto with two pianos". One of the educational purpose of the pre-elementary level in duo, 8 years old each, is to nurture supportive mind, partnership, friendship, and harmonious way of music making with their partners. There were 540 pairs took part in, and it seemed to work quite well. This also resulted in an increase in the total number of competitors, 43,486, the record high in the past decades.
Partnership can be seen not only in performances, but also in relationships between teacher-student, student-family, student - student, etc. For instance, "PTNA POST system" is a program in which students can ask for 2nd opinions and advices from teachers abroad via Skype and youtube. Other related news were also introduced.
This News Letter also introduced major events like PTNA Piano Competition, PTNA Piano STEP, as well as awards and achievements of PTNA members. The featured article on the last page was about current researches in progress, such as online encyclopedia for keyboard instruments, studies and performances of Japanese compositions, studies about music and society, etc.
