A special guidebook titled "Piano Competitions -- An introduction for teachers and parents" is published in February. It is written by Satori Tsukahara, an authorized member of PTNA. It aims at explaining educational advantages of participating competitions, the procedure of application, possible practicing schedules, the effective communication skills with students and parents, etc. It also includes introductory information of piano competitions across Japan, and statistical analysis of major competitions in regards of their objectives, standard of repertoires, judges, etc. In addition, comments from founders / chief administration officers of major competitions, such as Japan Bach Music Concours (Founder: Naomi Ishii) and Nakatsu An die Musik Piano Competition (Founder: Keiko Miyahara) are featured. "Teachers can develop their faculties together with students through competitions".

Since the number of piano competition is increasing nationwide, many teachers wonder how to integrate competitive settings into their regular lesson curriculum to maximize students' abilities. "Competitions are like regular examinations to measure how far students have achieved and advanced, and also to know a variety of musical expressions being presented", Mitsuyo Esaki said. (chair of Required Repertoire Selection Committee of PTNA).

The book is published by Yamaha Music Media Cooperation.
