PTNA Online Article Goes to Publishing
Online article titled "Piano in 19th century", written by Minoru Nishihara, professor of Toho Gakuen School of Music, is re-edited and published from ARTES publishing company.
The new book is titled "Europe, The Continent of Piano" which mainly focuses on the rise of classical music for general public, corresponding to the social change and industrial developments in the 19th century.
Prof.Nishihara is also well known of his books about music history, written from the sociological / ideological perspectives. And this new book is the first time to be published after having good reputation on the PTNA website. The original articles was started in 2007, and updated almost every two weeks until 2009 November.
To celebrate the new publishing, PTNA will organize a lecture-concert on June 27th. Prof.Nishihara will give lecture on the theme of "Nocturn in 19th century"; esthetics of tempo, pedal in nocturn / the birth of nocturn culture / how to 'sing' nocturn on the keyboards /etc., and Ms.Rieko Nezu will play several pieces from Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Field, Grinka, Tchaikovky, Faure, Poulanc, Satie and Chopin etc.
