Collaborators of School Concert Project reaches 100 this year
School Concert Project began in 2005 and pianists have been dispatched and played in 358 public schools in 42 prefectures(out of 47). The network expands steadily and as a result, the number of collaborating schools this year reaches 100. Here, we would like to introduce the five ways of running this project.
(1) PTNA grand prize winners go to local schools / 45 schools in 2009
Invited by local public schools, PTNA prize winners actively go and play there as far as then can. Nowadays the stage of performance goes beyond the classrooms to local concert halls.
(2) Sponsorship by Japan Post Service Co.,Ltd /12 schools
School concert project obtains sponsorship from Post Service Co.Ltd, that enables to dispatch pianists up to 12 schools which are distant from Metropolitan area.
(3) Partnership with PTNA branch offices / 12 schools
PTNA branch offices and affiliated member teachers involved in this project on voluntary basis as well as co-production with local sponsors and institutions, etc. It works as ideal musical activities that are deeply rooted to local society. It is necessary to nourish affection for music in young children, not only in lesson studios but also with the collaboration of society.
(4) Effective use of program of Agency for Cultural Affairs / 32 schools
The Agency for Cultural Affairs offers program named "Promotion Cultural Activities in Local Areas", by which artists are sent to public schools by the selection of each prefectural committee. The expense totally owe to this governmental body. PTNA assists consultation and preparation of documents to submit the Agency.
(5) Future prospective - Students volunteers
PTNA is recruiting students' volunteers to play in the local schools, and the first one will be launched in Nishi-Tokyo city. PTNA expects that students of music colleges, who will become working members of society after graduation, will make use of this opportunity to communicate with local people and educational institutions, as well as to make further experiences of public performance.
