An Event Celebrating "300 Years Anniversary of Piano"
An event of "300 years anniversary of Piano" will be held on August 28-30th in Tokyo, in partnership with PTNA and Japan Piano Technicians Association. It aims at looking back 300 years of keyboard history through concerts, lectures, expositions of instruments, workshops with early instruments, etc. On 28th, the opening concert will be launched to commemorate the 300th anniversary of keyboard instruments.
First part is focused on performances by early instruments, such as pipe organs (Renaissance, baroque, modern styles), cembalos, and fortepianos. Ancient music and dances will be played with those instruments. In the second part, the evolution of modern piano and piano music will be demonstrated, by playing various pieces representing particular cultures and styles - North and Eastern Europe, France-Spain, Russia-Japan, North and South America. During the three-days-event, PTNA Piano STEP will also be scheduled. Hundreds of piano learners and amateurs will play piano on stage.
