Nino Gvetadze(Piano)
Second Prize winner 8th International Franz Liszt Piano Competition.At the 8th International Franz Liszt Piano Competition held in April 2008 in Utrecht, Nino Gvetadze (Georgia, 1981) succeeded in winning Second Prize, the Music Critics' Prize, and the Van Lanschot Bankiers Audience Award.
As part of her prizes, Nino has embarked on an extensive concert tour, commencing with appearances throughout the Netherlands. Since then she has been invited to appear at the Franz Liszt Festival in Quito (Ecuador), the Orlando Festival (with the Rubens Quartet) as well as the Bayreuth Piano Festival and the Fazioli Concert Hall in Italy.
In the 2009 concert season, Nino will also make her debut with the Flemish Radio Orchestra under the baton of Michel Tabachnik in Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 2 as part of the 2009 Brahms Festival. At the end of October she will participate with the Rubens String Quartet in the 3rd Liszt in Vredenburg Festival. By invitation of the Institut Néerlandais she will be giving three concerts in Paris together with Dutch violin player Frederieke Saeijs.
For 2010 she has been invited by the Rotterdam Philharmonic, the Seoul Philharmonic as well as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
Nino Gvetadze studied piano at the Z. Paliashvili Music School in Tbilisi and the State Conservatory in the same city, under Veronika Tumanishvili, and Professors Nodar Gabunia and Nana Khubutia. After having received her master's degree, she moved to the Netherlands, where she studied with Paul Komen at the Royal Conservatory The Hague. In June 2007 she passed her exam with a 10+. At present, she is doing her master's with Jan Wijn at the Amsterdam Conservatory.
Since her first public appearance with an orchestra at the age of 6, Nino has been giving solo recitals and appearing as soloist with orchestras, including the Symphony Orchestra of Tbilisi, the Rotterdam Philharmonic, the Hague's Residence Orchestra, the Limburg Symphony Orchestra and Holland Symfonia.
Nino's repertoire covers chamber music as well. She participates in various music festivals in the Netherlands, Georgia, Germany and France. Nino has attended the masterclasses of Mikhail Voskresensky, Boris Berman, Dominique Merlet, Igor Roma, Rian de Waal and Jacques Rouvier, and has appeared together with Jean-Yves Thibaudet. *text from International Franz Liszt Piano Competition
