MIYOSHI, YUYAMA, BASTIEN...STEP focused on piano methods
Pieces composed for piano methods are rarely played in public, but why not? PTNA Piano STEP, a continuous stage performance opportunity for pianists of all age and levels, realizes it. Three STEP stations will focus on each of the following methods - MIYOSHI, BASTIEN, YUYAMA.
Then, what kind of characteristics each method has?
"MIYOSHI Piano Method" is established by Akira Miyoshi, one of the leading composers in Japan. It was first published in 1997, and was revised into 12 volumes in 2008. He dedicated all of his ideas and experiences to make supreme methodology in piano pedagogy. Pieces are rather short, but all the essential musical elements are contained.

"YUYAMA Akira Piano Method" is targeting for two age groups. "Universe of Children(1988)" is mainly for elementary level, and "Universe of Piano(2003)" is reedited the former to apply to mid teenagers to adults. Students can make advantage in improving technical elements and enjoying public performance at the same time. The composer himself will be present as STEP advisor.

"Bastien Method" aims at not only improving technical skills but also studying basics of music, theory and ear training, etc. Pieces are pleasurable and achievable at each level, and students can make steady advancement.
